This is a very unique antique item. It is an original natural gold nugget, directly from the gold fields where it was being mined (probably California since that's where I purchased it many, many years ago), and the nugget is permanently attached to an antique stick pin. The nugget itself is 12.2 mm high x 9.1 mm wide x 4.3 mm thick. It is hard to estimate the weight of the nugget, but my best guess is that it is probably about 1.7 grams and it tests as a very high gold content. I'm estimating the the gold nugget is at least 90% gold, taking into consideration some natural impurities. The antique stick pin itself is relatively low gold content, probably 10 karat gold, and weighs in the neighborhood of 1 gram. The total weight of the stick pin with the gold nugget soldered on is 2.6 grams. This item has been currently appraised at $300.00.
