Hand Woven Old Navajo Gallup Throw Rug Created with Handspun Native Navajo Wool Yarn on the Navajo Reservation. Circa 1960 - 1980 3 feet long x 1 foot 7 1/2 inches wide Condition: Mint, No Problems Description; Gallup throw rugs were and are woven by Navajo weavers as a way to pick up some extra cash or credit. They were often sold or traded to feed stores, pawn shops, and trading posts in Gallup, New Mexico hence their name. This Navajo weaving has rich color and a strong serrated geometric design called the "eye dazzler". The colors are brown, white, gray, and deep black with high contrast. The high quality handspun wool is fully spun and this rug could be used on the floor as well as the wall. Because of its thicker handle it could be considered a small Navajo rug as well as a Gallup throw. This is an excellent item of use to a decorator or collector. This rug was from a Los Angeles, California estate and purportedly collected before 1972, and carefully stored away from light, bugs and dust. Shipping can be combined on multiple items if feasible. Satisfaction is guaranteed. Buyer pays shipping and a 10% restocking fee, if the item is returned. The restocking fee is waived if the item differs significantly from the description.
