This elaborate and decorative BRACELET- STYLE watch is set with literally dozens of teardrop and round block turquoise cabochons set into serrated bezels. Block is the process of combining natural stone with a resign in order to form specific shapes which may not occur in natural formations, and to add strength to the stone. This is a SIZABLE showpiece measuring nearly a whopping 4" in length. This classic cluster style watch is hand-crafted by a Native American silversmith in sterling.

For the Southwestern Native American, pawn refers to the practice of converting art and possessions into income for life's necessities. Pawn can also be items from antiquity, heirloom pieces of handmade jewelry or craft, passed from a family into the public marketplace. Because much of the pawned merchandise is of real day-to-day value in the seller's life, the percentage of pawn that goes unredeemed is small, about five percent. Merchandise that remains for sale after expiration is referred to as "dead pawn", and items of dead pawn are among the most highly valued Native American artifacts to be found on the open market.

Some pieces of dead pawn are old, other pieces are new and have been pawned by the original artist or by others. It is difficult to tell the age of a piece of jewelry, but some indicators are "wear and tear," evidence of continued previous polishing, the style of the setting or style of the piece itself, the type of stone or material used in the settings.
