This is nice looking OPTICAL ILLUSION OR 3D RUG, these rugs are part of the Navajo Weaving tradition and the style dates back to at least 1915 (I used to own one from this tine period but sold it several years ago). She is well woven being thick and heavy, and made from all sheep's wool. The white, grey and black are natural sheep's wool colors - these wools are all hand spun and carded/blended (grey). The yellow is hand spun and hand dyed yellow with a vegetal dye. The size of this rug is 37" X 20", with a warp of 6 and a weft count of as high as 32-36 - 100% wool warp and weft! The wools vary on this rug the weft count of the white is high at 36 the yellow bands on the ends lower at 20. GOOD CONDITION: T is one small hole/fray, see last pic. The 4 corner ties are all present, and the actual corners are in excellent condition. The end selvage cords, a white braid, are 100% intact. The side selvage warps are 100% intact as well, as twist of two, 2-ply white wool yarns. T is NO bug/moth damage, NO bleeding of dyes, NO Obvious Fading (yellow is muted but I think this is original tone), and NO stains! T is one hole, see last picture. No odors!
