This is a Two Grey Hills rug or blanket purchased in 1975 at Keams Canyon Trading Post in New Mexico. T 100% Churro wool was processed using hand spinning on the reservation and is tightly woven. It has a small frayed corner with a photo included. This rug was never used as a rug nor layed on the floor. It hung on a wall for many years after purchase. The colors are typical Two Grey Hills - black, brown, grey and white in usual tribal patterns. The tag that is usually afixed to one of the corners was misplaced long ago but it is authentic vintage workmanship. This is a remarkable example of old reservation weaving. Dimensions: 20" X 33" The Two Grey Hills Trading Post is one of New Mexico's best kept secrets. It has been isolated for over 90 years with no identifying signs. The trading Post didn't welcome visitors or collectors when this was bought. It was brought to Keams Canyon the day it was purchased along with several more rugs. Keams Canyon is one o f several trading posts who were comissioned to carry these rugs at that time.
