This limited edition of a watercolor collage by artist/Naval aviator R.L. Rasmussen illustrates scenes from the American space program. The original autographs of nine astronauts/Naval aviators are beneath. These are a unique mixture of heroes from all phases of the American space program, and many of these signatures are rare (like Neil Armstrong ) The nine astronauts were part of a symposium held at the Naval Aviation museum in 1989. Rasmussen, curator and museum artist, published this edition as a fund-raiser for the museum, and the astronauts signed it after a ceremonial dinner, all of them sitting at a table, passing each print to the next signer. The signing took a couple of hours. The event was covered on TV. This is signed and numbered copy #882/1000. The original COA from the Naval Aviation museum is included. Both print and framing are in excellent condition for a 22 year old piece of framed artwork These are ORIGINAL, authentic, individually signed autographs, in pencil, to prevent fading over time. Archival FramedThe print is currently framed in anodized aluminum with U/V Plexiglas and acid-free double mats. It has been displayed out of the sun in a smoke free environment. The interior mat closest to the art is a light blue. The wider part of the mat is a dark navy blue. To save on postage, I will remove the print from the frame and ship it, rolled, in a stiff mailing tube. Size: 20x24 image 29x35 framed [if desired] This print has always been the best-kept secret and the biggest value for the dollar of anything available today. It's the only commercially-available item with the signatures of Armstrong and Glenn on one document. If I recall correctly, it was the final multi-signed commercial piece that Armstrong agreed to participate in its signing. The signees: First and foremost is Neil Armstrong . This is an extremely rare, undeniably authentic, autograph from the commander of Gemini 8 and the FIRST HUMAN TO WALK ON THE MOON on Apollo 11. You probably already know that the reclusive Armstrong's signature is nearly impossible to obtain today, and this is worth the price of the print alone. Actually, his signature on his Apollo NASA portrait lithograph has been selling in the range of US$5000 or more lately. Armstrong stopped signing all requests back in 1994 Gene Cernan, from Gemini 9, Apollo 10 and Apollo 17. Captain Cernan was the last man to walk on the moon in 1972. He has cut down his signing appearances as of late, but his signing fees have continually increased whenever he does make a rare signing agreement. He currently charges $175 as a base fee for his autograph and has been known to turn down multi signed space prints in the past. Captain Cernan still holds the highest reentry speed of a manned spacecraft all of these years after the fact. Senator John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth in 1962, and again aboard space shuttle Discovery in 1998. His signature was always in demand from his Mercury flight and Senatorial days, but interest continues to be great, especially considering he was the eldest shuttle astronaut at 77; his current age; and his retirement from NASA and the Senate. Glenn's original autograph is very hard to come by these days. Today, requests for signed photos will get you a strict personalization by laser printer and possibly an autopen signature. You can wait for months to get a response, if you get one at all. Senator Glenn is approaching his 90th birthday in July 2011 and the 50th anniversary of his Friendship 7 Mercury flight on February 20, 2012. Alan Shepard was the first American to rocket into space and the only one of the original Mercury 7 Astronauts to walk on the Moon on Apollo 14. Since his passing in 1998, Admiral Shepard's genuine signature has become extremely rare and has commanded a very high price since many of his signatures in circulation are “secretarial’s” or very rushed scribbles, a...
