Thank you You are bidding on one 100% original : 62.5% Silver 1938 - 2 Reichsmark Coin Mint Mark A VFThis type of silver coin was only minted during the Nazi German era from 1936 - 1939. The superior design compared to other world coins of the era is remarkable. The edge of the coin has the words "Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz" which translates, "Public good goes before self-interest." The coin in the picture above is the exact coin you are bidding on. You can view multiple pictures of the same coin at the bottom of the listing. One side of the coin has the Reichseagle clutching a wreath containing a swastika. The other side has a bust of Paul von Hindenburg. He was Germany's most famous WWI General. He held the position Supreme Commander East and was responsible for the simultaneous defeat of two Russian armies. This was Germany's greatest victory of WWI. Hindenburg became an icon who was seen as the embodiment of manly honor, decency, and strength. He was president from 1925 until his death in 1934. In 1933, due to senility and constant pressure, he agreed to appoint Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany. When compared to a United States minted quarter, this coin is slightly larger in diameter and thickness. This coin is in good condition. It has some toning and a dirty appearance. If you are a coin collector, our opinion of the condition is VF. This is a great item for those of us that love historical memorabilia. Just think... It was created and used by the most horrifying government in modern history. It's possible that a German officer or official used this very coin during the war. Don't miss your chance to add this to your WWII collection. Bid now before this one is gone.
