Matchlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths this Near Mint 125 lb. Trenton Blacksmith Anvil. This anvil has a beautiful profile. The face and edges are clean with only a few nicks on the edges. There's a big drop from the face to the table and the horn is long and clean. The anvil is marked ACME, but all you can see is ME. The front foot is marked with the weight 125" and the serial numbers "A146481" which means this anvil was made in 1917. Please take a close look at the pictures. Trenton anvils were made by The Columbus Forge & Iron Company of Columbus, Ohio. They began production in the U.S. in 1898 and continued forging anvils until 1953. Trenton anvils were made of solid wrought iron with a cast steel base. They were faced with a Swedish Tool Steel plate when available. The company advertised their anvils to have a superior shape, perfectly ground faces, straight holes, long pointed horns, long hard faces and tails, tempered edges to prevent chipping and a good clear ring.
