Beautiful Edison Standard cylinder phonograph in perfect operating condition. Includes original brass and black witch's hat horn and two near mint Edison cylinder records. The phonograph is a desireable Model D, with an open-ended mandrel. It was manufactured when Edison cylinder phonograph production was at its peak in terms of both quality and reliability.
As you can see from the photographs, this machine is a gem. The bedplate is deep black and glossy and retains almost all of its original gold pinstriping, and the original gold Edison signature/trademark on the vertical casting is perfect (see photo). The original quarter-sawn oak cabinet is minty (both base and lid), with an outstanding decal and the original paper "reproducer warning" label still complete and perfectly intact inside the lid. Nickel plated mandrel gleams, as you can see, and the motor is clean and well lubricated. T's oxidation on the lid latch hardware and the crank, but this is something you see on the even the most pristine machines. The original black and brass horn has the coveted "Pat Apld For" stamped above the seam, and the horn itself is in excellent condition, with minimal paint wear and a beautiful polished bell. Please note that this phonograph still has its original gear shroud and its original feedscrew shield, both of which are in excellent condition, and both of which are usually missing, having been lost or damaged over time. Just as nice, this century-old machine is equipped with factory 2/4 gearing so it can play any conventionally-sized cylinder ever manufactured: 2 minute brown wax, 2 minute gold moulded, 4 minute Amberol, 4 minute Blue Amberol, Edison, Columbia, Oxford -- you name it, this machine can play it. And the sound is excellent. Loud and clear, with no wavering and a good, strong motor that can pull the carriage through multiple cylinders with a single winding. The phonograph is supplied with a "C" reproducer for 2-minute cylinders, but if you want to play 4 minute records, you need only change out the supplied reproducer with either an "H" or "K" reproducer (not included) and shift the position of gearing button on the left side of carriage. It takes less than a minute, and you can change back just as quickly. This phonograph will be carefully packaged, double-boxed and shipped in well-padded containers to ensure its safe arrival at your door. I'll include a reproduction of the original set-up instructions, along with my own, so you can have the phonograph up and running in a matter of minutes. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal okay.
