LEITZ ORTHOLUX EQUIPPED FOR TRANSMITTED LIGHT and FLUORESCENCE NEAR MINT EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLECTORS AN EXTRAORDINARY MICROSCOPE REPRESENTING TECHNOLOGICAL EXCELLENCE SERIAL NUMBER 673764 ALSO SELLING LEITZ ACCESSORIES THAT WILL WORK ON THIS MICROSCOPE SO CHECK OUT MY OTHER AUCTIONS! The Leitz Ortholux set a new standard in microscopy. Following World War II, all scientists who won the Noble Science Award were given a Leitz Ortholux. Great breakthroughs in science and medicine took place under the Leitz Ortholux. While the Ortholux is already highly collectible, it's attraction to collectors will only increase over time. It is an object to be cherished for its enduring technological excellence. For many, many years, Leitz set the standard in microscopy. Seldom have I encountered this classic microscope in near mint condition and with so many accessories available. This auction, and my others, is an exceptional opportunity for collectors. The photos are of the actual microscope. The microscope is configured for basic transmitted light work, but the modularity of design permits reconfiguration for many specialized applications. Ort holux Base: The large modern rectangular base with angled corners and a durable, gray hammer-tone enamel finish supports the "T"-shaped Ortholux stand. Fittings are provided to attach light sources. Ortholux Stand: The Ortholux stand is a precision cast non-corroding aluminum/magnesium alloy incorporating course and fine focusing adjustments on double-ball bearings counter balanced to accept stages, condensers, etc. The fine adjustment travels through a depth of 3.8mm at an accuracy of 0.001mm. The arm has a dovetail slider with spring lock to accept various observation tubes and accessories. Fittings are provided in the base and the arm to introduce light sources for transmitted (lower) as well as reflected (upper) illumination. Ortholux Observation: Leitz Germany Type FS combination inclined binocular eyepiece tubes and monocular photographic tube. Knob for adjusting interoccular separation. The tube assembly can be removed as a unit by pressing the clamp located at the point of connection of the frame and tube assembly. A sliding prism control selects visual observation or photomicrography. Ortholux Eyepieces: Leitz Germany Periplan 10xM eyepieces. Ortholux Nosepiece: Quintuple revolving objective nosepiece on carrier 14.5 with tube lens 1.25x and horizontal slider with Leitz Germany objectives: Apochromatic Dry Objective: Apo 12.5x/0.30 Cat. # 519 009 with PLEZY adapter Apochromatic Dry Objective: Apo 25x/0.65 Cat. # 519 007 with PLEZY adapter. Spring Loaded. Plano Objective: Pl Fl 4/0.14 (Will work with Orthoplan) Two empty objective spots Ortholux Stage: Leitz Germany large mechanical stage Type 250 with scales and verniers, low set operating knobs on one axis, traversing area 76 x 40mm. The stage is IMMACULATE with no signs of wear. Coaxial, low-position operating knobs for the object holder adjustment. Dual (left and right) knobs for course adjustment of focus by vertical movement of the stage. Dual (left and right) knobs for fine adjustment of focus; scale unit 1/1000mm. Clamping lever for the course adjustment. Ortholux Condenser: I call this "an old bathtub" shape. The top aspherical element can be rotated out of the light path by turning a knob. Aperature diaphragm, centering mount and interchangeable aspherical top element: Apl Oel 1.25. (Mainly for work with highly corrected oil immersion objectives. Not suitable for fluorescence.) Vertical condenser adjustment knob. Ortholux 6 Volt Lamp: Lamp attachment fitting into base recepticle with 6 Volt 30 Watt filament lamp, slot for filter, a lever for adjusting the collector lens, a knurled screw for centering, and a knurled screw for clamping the lamp in place. This is the small lamp at a 90 degree angle to the stand; not the 250 watt lamp at the rear of the base. Plugs into the Leitz Ortholux 6 Volt Transformer.
