Beautiful, working, collector-quality Radiola III regenerative receiver with its original instruction manual, its original Brandes headphones (working) and two clear glass, latter-day WD-11 replacements.
I've seen and/or owned two dozen or more Radiola III sets over the years, and this probably the nicest one, overall, that I've ever offered for sale or put up at auction. As you can see in the photographs, its condition is near mint throughout, with the correct Radiola audio transformer (both windings good), all of the original fuse type resistors, all of the original metal voltage tags still present on the original hook-up cable, the original panel screws still beautifully plated, etc. The panel is glossy black and flawless, with the original lettering close to 100%. Interior of the radio is original and pristine. The original owner's manual shows wear typical for its age, but t are no missing pages, and it's still useful and informative and displays beautifully with the radio. The cabinet is in superb condition, with its original finish still wholly intact, no rotted wood or other damage, and the original Radiola III decal is close to 100%. Brandes headphones are in excellent, working condition. Cord is still nice and stiff, and the metal tips are still firmly planted in the cloth sheathing. The radio has been tested with a longwire outdoor antenna and an ARBE III power supply and it still works. Although it was designed to be used primarily with headphones, it is able to power a loudspeaker to moderate levels when tuned to a local station. I will include with the radio a pair of modern-day WD-11 replacements, made with subminiature raytheon tubes tucked into a WD-11 type glass envelopes. Although these replacement tubes are not as fragile nor as susceptible to frying as original WD-11 and C-11 tubes, they are also not as good (particuarly as detectors) and if you want to get the most out of this set when using it as a "player" radio, you should use conventional WD-11 tubes. An outstanding Radiola III overall, and a great upgrade if you already own an example. Shipping weight -- properly packed -- approx. 16 lb. Buyer pays shipping/insurance costs. Paypal okay.
