Original World War II United States Marine Corps USMC khaki Map Case Boyt 43 dated that has been field modified to a back pack with the shoulder strap sewn as loops with shoulder pads added. Very nice original WWII map case that is stamped USMC on the interior of the flap and Boyt 43 on the back. Pack has the pencil and instrument pouch under the flap and all the interior khaki cloth dividers with the stiff back to keep the maps flat. Unfortunately, one of the lift the dot fasteners male side has pulled out of the material but is still present in the female part (see photos 2 and 3) but the bottom piece is missing inside the pencil pocket area. Pack was altered during WWII with the owner taking the long over the shoulder strap and cutting it in two and sewing them to the base of the pack like a small backpack. Most interesting is the obvious wartime addition of two gorgeous early war khaki shoulder pads to the reconfigured strap (see photo 7). Pack is in fair condition due to the problem with the one lift the dot fastener otherwise would be excellent with nice color, strong markings and little other wear to speak of, but of course has been field altered. Neat original WWII Marine field modified officers map case that would be nice for a USMC field gear display or use by a WWII Pacific Marine re-enactor. Buyer pays via Paypal or other read more
