Nedim Günsur (1924 – 1994) Large woodcut limited edition on paper 1983 A large signed work which appears to be a woodcutNumbered lower left in pencil 86 of 100 and signed by the artist in pencil lower rightTitled lower centre Olumsuz Doga?Image measures 35cms by 54cms and currently in larger frame 73cms by 53cmsWill be shipped deframed or can be collected complete with frame and glazingAppears nice and clean without foxing under the glassBorn in 1924 in Istanbul, he attended primary school there and secondary school in Afyon, entering the Fine Arts Academy in 1941. Günsur, who graduated from Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu’s Studio in 1948, went to Paris with a scholarship from the French government and carried out extensive research. In the first period of his artistic life, he worked in an impressionist style. In his Paris period he employed an abstract style, and during his last period he chose a figurative, expressionist style. The artist held many international and national exhibitions at which he won many awards. He died in 1994.
