Measuring: Ca. 7.75" x 13.75" (framed).Ca. 5.75" x 11.75" (at opening). Nels Hagerup was born in Christiania (Oslo), Norway. He later, at age of 18 immigrated to the USA. As a merchant seaman, he first settled in Portland, in 1882 and moved to San Francisco in 1892. He lived near the Golden Gate Bridge. Profession: Marine painter. Mainly known for painting Dunes, Ships, Sunsets and Marine Scenes. Nels Hagerup died in 1922, in San Francisco. Studied: Christiania (Oslo) Art School; Royal Academy, Berlin, Germany; Copenhagen with Carl Locher. Exhibited: Lewis & Clark Expo, Portland, 1905 (gold medal); Alaska -Yukon Expo., Seattle, 1909 (gold medal); Calif. Historic Society, 1963 (posthumous solo).
