All covers are in perfect condition and the case opens and closes very tightly. You will need a knife to open this one! The crown, hoop and twin pushers are the original ones and are in perfect condition. Dial: This is the original signed white dial and is in mint condition. The main scale is marked from 0-3 seconds in 1/100th second increments. One full revolution of the dial takes 3-seconds. The top subsidiary register is marked for up to 60-seconds. The hands are all original as is the thick bevelled glass lens. The glass has some surface marks as shown. The dial is clearly signed: NERO LEMANIA SWISS Movement: This is fully signed and in perfect running order. It has fire gilt plates and jewelled straight line lever escapement with monometallic balance, self compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring and bright steel index regulator. It dates to around the 1950's-60's and is the same model and spec that was used throughout the British armed forces, particularly the Admiralty for timing ordnance such as torpedoes. It is clearly marked; LEMANIA 430487 This is a Rattrapante Split Second Chronograph / Stop Watch and is operated via the stem and the twin push buttons to the side of the case . The movement is wound and re-set via the crown. To operate; 1. Press the right hand button and both the blued steel and red centre sweep hand starts 2. Press the left hand button and the red centre sweep hand will stop. 3. Pressing the left hand button again and the red hand will jump to the position of the blued steel hand and continue in pace with it. 4. Press the right hand button and both hands will stop. 5. Press the crown again and both centre sweep hands, and the sub register hand will reset. A split-second timer allows two timings to be taken concurrently; so if two parties are involved in a time trial and start together their individual finishing times can be accurately recorded without interference. It is working perfectly . Size: This fine instrument measures 65mm in diameter, 82mm tall to the top of the winding crown and 23mm deep . Weight : 213.1 grams total. This is a particularly fine example in virtually un-used condition. These have sold at specialist Horological Auctions at £500 / $1000+.
