This beautiful set of The Seven Happy Gods ( Shichi Fukujin ) is 100% Guaranteed Genuine African Elephant Tusk Ivory Netsuke Pre Ban . It comes in Original box with literature and carved display Gods are signed on bases in reddish color characters by the Master who carved them. The two gods that legs show do not have this Signature though they are clearly part of this set. These Gods are in Mint condition with exception to the third from the left I believe you can see tip of his left foot is missing also hoop that is behind head has had repair he must have indured an unfortunate fall. The remaining six gods are in Mint condition. I wish I had a better camera aswell as skills as my pictures do not do justice to the beauty and detailing each of these Gods posess from their fingers hair clothes etc. such fine attention to every last detail. They each measure around 2.5" tall. Even the box was crafted with great care and detail as you can see in photo the knot in wood lines up evenly from top of box to bottom. This is Netsuke at its finest representing The Seven Happy Gods which are familiar to all Japanese. They are worshipped continuously but especially on New Years when the people come to the shrines to give thanks for their good fortunes , help , protection and prosperity through out the year. They are EBISU , DAIKOKU , BISHAMON - TEN , FUKUROKUJU , HOTEI , JUROJIN and BENTEN.
