Non Issued Genuine Military Bata Boots, Size 12 R, Contract NO 100--70-C-1897 Feb 22,, 1972 Military Surplus, Made in the USA, BLACK, Also known in the military as "Mickey Mouse" boots. These boots have been designed to protect your feet from cold injury and frost bite in areas w moisture and cold are critical factors, w the mean monthly temperature ranges from between 14F and 69F. The boot should not be worn w temperatures fall below -20F. The part of the boot that keeps the feet warm consists of layers of wool and felt that are sealed between the rubber inner and outer layers of the boot so that no water can get into the insulation areas. Marching, running, or heavy work for long periods will cause the feet to sweat. However, this moisture cannot damage the insulation because of the water-proof rubber lining inside the boot. The feet, even if damp, will stay warm. Rugged nylon laces go thru the second eyelet twice to lock your foot in place. Gussetted tongue keeps snow out and a heel wedge accepts ski or snowshoe bindings. Perfect for hunting, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and just about any other activity w cold and moisture are a factor.
