Womb Chair and Ottoman Eero Saarinen Product Details This is a reproduction of t he Womb chair, with its matching ottoman, also known as No. 70, which was designed in 1948, by Architect and Designer Eero Saarinen. The Womb's steel rod base and polished-chrome finish, combined with its frame upholstered in fabric--all covering a fiberglass shell, highlights Saarinen's brilliant design aesthetic and his architectural skills. In addition to its unique look, the chair is extremely comfortable. Called the Womb for a reason, the chair is designed to facilitate a relaxed sitting posture which in turn provides total comfort and a sense of security. The Womb Chair's enveloping, lap-like form continues to be one of the most iconic and recognized representations of mid-century Scandinavian organic modernism. In fact, ask most designers and architects what lounge chair design they covet and they'll promptly tell you it's the Womb Chair. This high quality replica of the Womb Chair is constructed of foam over a molded, reinforced fiberglass shell and the matching ottoman is constructed of foam cushion over molded plywood platform which provides a further degree of lavish comfort. Includes separate seat, back and ottoman cushions of polyester fiber with foam. Both chair and ottoman features a slender steel tube base which are chrome-plated using a multiple step process that results in a flawlessly polished mirror finish with nylon articulating glides to protect the wood floor.
