New England and American Telephone and Telegraph Sign
Sold For:
or Sign In to see what it's worth.
Up for auction is a vintage porcelain sign from New England Telephone and Telegraph, and American Telephone and Telegraph. This rare original sign is in near mint condition, and is NOT a reproduction. I doubt you'll find one nicer. It was hanging outside my Dad's drugstore in Littleton, Massachusetts when he bought the store in 1970. The store originally opened in 1923, but I don't know the age of the sign. This is a double sided, porcelain coated steel sign. Both sides are in absolutely beautiful condition, with only very minor edge chipping and surface rust in a few spots along the outer edges and at the holes that were used for hanging the sign. T are no marks or damage to the white lettering or the dark blue background on either side of the sign. It measures approximately 17" wide by 24" tall. I've placed a 12 ounce soda can in one of the pictures for size reference. T appears to be no fading whatsoever, and the sign shines like brand new.The sign was taken down from the storefront sometime in the 1980's, and placed in indoor storage for the last 20+ years. We really hate to sell it, but it should be in the hands of a collector who will display and appreciate it.For shipping the sign has been carefully wrapped in a terry cloth towel, screwed to a piece of plywood, then placed in a cardboard box with bubble wrap to prevent damage. If you have specific shipping preferences I'll do my best to comply. Otherwise, it will ship by UPS Ground. Insurance is strongly encouraged. Email me with your zip code for a shipping quote, or you can check it yourself from zip code 03055. Shipping dimensions will be 3"x20"x34" and 18 lbs. US bidders only on this item please. If you have any questions please email me before bidding. I would appreciate email from the winning bidder within 3 days of auction close to arrange for shipping and payment, and require payment within 7 days of auction close. Paypal is preferred, although certified bank checks or US Postal money orders will be accepted after being verified. Thanks for looking, and bid early and often!
