This mirrorsides mantle clock was made by the New Haven Clock Company in Connecticut around 1911 and has become a strong favorite among Victoriana decorators. Named "The Occidental" by the clock company, it features a gilded metal bust of Minerva on the crown and two gilded cupids --one on each side of the case, standing on a pedestal in front of a reflecting mirror that creates the impression of four figures instead of two. The pendulum, mirrors, movement and door glass on this clock are all original to the case. The solid Walnut case has been refinished and looks great! The lovely and colorful pattern on the door glass is a strong PLUS for this type clock. Many have lost their original glass through breakage or had much of the pattern scrapped off by careless former owners. This glass is in excellent condition (see photograph). The dial has been recovered professionally. The movement is clean and runs well, striking the hours on a pleasant sounding coil gong. We rarely have one of these 'mirrorsides' in stock for more than a week or two until they depart for a new owner's home. This is a good price for a very fine example of this style clock.
