We raise funds through eBay sales of items from our local history preservation efforts. This is an original production by our company, and the auction is for a new, unused DVD created in our offices. You'll Get: NEW YORK CALLING 1930'S FILMS, 00:55:47 Great mixture of different films. Three different from the late 30s, educational safety films. First, "The Steam Locomotive". Second, "The Freight Yard". Third, "The Railroad Signal". The New York Central, one of the premier systems of the 19 th and 20 th centuries, produced this short collection of films, designed to showcase the modern NYC system. These three short films feature the mighty Hudson-class Steam Locomotives as well as freight yards and signal systems. Shows anything a person would want to know about a steam locomotive...telling you how steam is. Great B&W footage. WATER LEVEL ROUTE , 00:55:17 Produced by our own Bill Warrick, a documentary covering NYC RR's "Water Level Route" named because it ran right at the Hudson River level, NYCentral was over the years compiled from several smaller route acquisitions (Lake Shore/Michigan Central for one), steam trains, a collection of B&W and color films from 1905 to the 1960s, a portion of film from 1924, filmed in Elkhart, IN, believed to be the arrival and departure of two east bound sections of NYCentral's famous 20 th Century Limited. Turn of the century films show the testing of NY and Hudson River 's first electric locomotive, "The 6000", showing testing against the steam engines of the day.
