Offered is a "BRAND NEW, VINTAGE" Sterling Silver "BABY CUP w/ 24K GOLD-PLATING". I acquired several sterling silver pieces from a gentleman who retired from his jewelry store several years ago. He saved his stock. I was lucky enough to purchase many items from him. The cup was crafted by the "WEB SILVER CO." Many Sterling Silver goblets, cups, etc. are "gold-washed". It is basically a light spray that does the job it is meant to do very well. However, this cup is actually "24K gold-plated" inside. This is done because the acid in juices and such react with silver and are more inert with gold. Web discontinued gold-plating their cups in the early 1960's. Incidently, for some reason, the gold looks darker in most of the pictures than it's true color. Web was absorbed by Salisbury Silver and PewterCo. during the 1970's. They continue to make most of Web's items under both the Salisbury and Web names. This cup, the "WEB #513" , without the gold-plating, costs $170.00 today. The cup is pristine. T are no dings, dents, scratches, etc. T are, of course, "NO MONOGRAMS" . It measures 2 1/8" tall and is 2 3/8" in diameter at the opening. The cup weighs 43 grams, or just under 1 1/2 ounces, and it holds (4) fluid ounces. What a wonderful gift for your child, grandchild or even a special friend's child. It would be a lasting treasure read more
