We have just received a fabulous gift for auction from the best church Silversmith in Cuzco , Peru ; Juan Cardenas. Juan has had numerous Vatican commissions and Pope John Paul II requested several holy vessels, after seeing his work on a visit to Peru .

This piece is on consignment for auction in order to help the Carmelite Convents with their building efforts after the terrible August 15 th earthquake that hit Peru . T was a lot of damage done to convents and religious art, as can be seen from the picture of a damaged chalice that Juan is restoring for the Convent in Cuzco (SEE PICTURE BELOW) . The winning bidder will get a copy of a letter from the convent they are helping with their contact information in Cuzco .

This crown has 5 high quality natural stones that were special ordered and cut in Thailand for it. Each stone is over ¼ inch in diameter; THEY ARE NOT SYNTHETIC STONES.

The crown is 7.25 inches tall and is an exact copy of a Spanish Colonial Baroque crown that is used on the infant Jesus during Holy Week processions in Cuzco; the same infant Jesus that Our Lady of Carmel holds in her arms. The weight of the crown is 177 grams of solid sterling silver. The diameter of the opening for the Santos head is 3.25 inches, and the circumference is almost 10 inches. Each design on the crown is hand hammered and formed by Juan from the inside, and this crown took two weeks of work to complete.

We only have one crown and it is this one. The reserve price of $600.00, is solely based on the cost of materials , Juan has donated his work and we are paying all the auction fees. The crown comes with a lifetime service gurantee, except for missing stones ; in the case of missing stones we will replace the stones for the cost of the stones only. We reserve the right to sell the crown to the highest bidder, if for some reason the reserve is not reached.
