Description : all photos are enlarged to better show detail - see more photos at the bottom of the page ~~"Viking Ball"~~ **Möns Klint Chalk Cliffs, Denmark** This is a brand new item I found in Tucson at the Gem and Mineral Shows last month!! T was a new location and vendors from several different venues moved to this spot so as I walked around, I was thrilled to find some new dealers! The only information available on these fossils is from a handout the vendor gave with the balls. It was written by Melody most likely for inclusion in the new book she is writing. According to Melody: "Viking Balls" are comprised of siliceous algae and are Fossils that were formed about 65 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. The balls had been used in the production of "faience" (tableware) in the 1800's, and, until the 1960's were used for cement production and for Gold production throughout the world, their major "job" in the Gold prduction business being to act as "crushers" for rocks that contained Gold. The mining of the balls from the Möns Klint Chalk Cliffs ceased in 1960 when the area was declared a National Park. Currently the balls are only collected from the beach, when available, after the ocean brings them from the Chalk Cliffs during winter storms." According to Melody, "this formation is one of the few which never needs cleansing or clearing, and, placed within ones environment will cleanse same; it has also been quite useful in removing negativity from ones thoughts and actions. ...The "Viking Balls" have been used to provide courage and strength in times of danger, to provide protection for outside harm, and to promote the energy of "being natural" with oneself and with others."
