Offered is a beautiful "BRAND NEW, VINTAGE" "BABY/CHILD STERLING SILVER CUP with 24K GOLD-PLATING" . I have been fortunate enough to know a gentleman that retired from his jewely stores several years ago and kept much of his stock. From time to time, I am able to acqire some of his timeles gems. This lovely cup is an example. It was crafted by the "WEB SILVER Co." which merged with the Salisbury Silver & Pewter Co. in 1985. "WEB DISCONTINUED GOLD-PLATING THEIR CUPS IN THE 1960's" . Webs designs are still made under both the Web and Salisbury name. This particular cup "WEB #509" is still made without the gold-plating. Today one sells for just over $200.00, (without the gold-plating). Web made (4) sizes of these cups, with variations. This is the largest of the four, designed for a baby or a toddler. It has an easy to hold handle and a rounded lip, for safety. The cup measures 2 1/4" high and is 2 1/2" in diameter at the opening. Its' weight is just uder two ounces,(This is one time w lighter is better). It holds (5) fluid ounces. You may have heard the term "gold wash" in connection with cups and goblets. This is basically a light spray, was this cup is actually "24K GOLD-PLATING" inside.
