NEW YORK CENTRAL DIETZ VESTA RAILROAD LANTERN
On auction is a very clean Dietz Vesta lantern, no dents, rust or dings. Stands straight and tall !! On dome top in an oval, is embossed DIETZ VESTA and around the edge NEW YORK U.S.A., with stars. On the brim t is embossed N.Y.C.S.. It has patent dates on the brim and production date S-8-27 or 37, it is hard to read.
The oil fount looks to be very nice and the burner, with wick, is also very good.
The clear 4 1/2 inch globe is made by Corning and has many swirls and lines in the glass, not cracked, and no scratches, just a sign of old glass. On the front, in an oval, is embossed N.Y.C.LINES and on the back the Corning logo and MADE IN THE U.S.A. This old lantern hung from the ceiling in the train room for the better part of 30 years, the trains are now gone and it needs a new home. Thanks for looking !!
