Available this week is this A rmspear "1925" railroad lantern marked on the rim of the lid "N&SS RY." for the Newburgh & South Shore Railway, a small US Steel controlled railroad serving American Steel and Wire Corp. in Cleveland Ohio. The N&SS shuttled hot metal from the Central blast furnace in the flats to the shaping mills in Newburgh. In its heyday, the traffic density on the little line was phenomenal, with almost constant hot metal traffic. Alas; today it's mostly gone...The lantern is in excellent condition. No rust, no major dents, corrosion, pitting, bent wires, leaning or other issues here. The globe is a Corning "Nonex" product with the standard Corning "horseshoe" logo and "Made in USA" cast into the bottom. No cracks, cloudiness, cleaning scratches, or major rim chips; a great match for this frame!Be sure to !)
