I have for auction a wonderful Newcomb College decorated limoges plate. This is a 7 1/2 inch Haviland France china plate decorated by a student at the internationally known Newcomb College in New Orleans, LA. Although works in other mediums are not as common as the pottery, the ladies worked in many different areas such as porcelain china painting, metalwork, leather crafts and embroidery. This is attributed to Elizabeth Horner (Mrs. James B. Bordens IV) who was enrolled as a freshman in the session of 1905-1906. She completed the four year program in Normal art and received a diploma in art in 1910. She was listed as a graduate art student in 1910-1913 after which she served as an art craftsman from 1913-1916. This is signed on the back EH with one line going through a "C" shape into the "H" and '06. You can find another Newcomb Porcelain plate sold by Neal Auction in the Louisiana Purchase Auction Nov. 22, 2014 lot number 665 that sold for 800.00. Please look at the photos as they are an important part of the description. Ask all questions before bidding and before the last 12 hours of the auction. This will ship through USPS priority mail service. This may be shipped internationally however we exclusively use eBay's global shipping service. This service is not available for this item.
