Newest find! Extremely rare Japanese Rainbow garnet General. The garnet crystal has strong play of color like peacock ore, but some crystals have stronger play of colour like Opal. This garnet is domestically called super rainbow garnet because of the stronger play of colour. The strength of play of colour varies depending on viewing angles. The characteristics of iridescence are quite similar to the other iridescent minerals. This iridescent garnet was found early 2004 in Tenkawa village, Yoshino district, Nara Pref. Japan. And now, the vein is closed and the price is quickly going up. Most dealers stopped selling this garnet. No chance to buy this garnet out side Japan except for this auction. Shipping Basic shipping fee is $8.00 for worldwide air post. If you require registered mail or insurance, additional cost of $5.00 is required. For combined shipping, $0.40 S/H increment per additional item. Restriction Number of bid upon items is restricted to 10 within 10 days. Item Description Please note, the photographs may have not accurate viewing angles. But every item has been carefully chosen to be well balanced without large differences of iridescence between lots. Certainly, the real items have much better iridescence than the photos.Only a few photos could not display all iridescence of the specimen. This is an excellent thumbnail size cluster with maximum crystal size 5mm. Various nice strong flash displayed from all crystals. Mostly crystals are gemmy. Extremely fine specimen. Size: Some informations for the Rainbow garnet available from my external page. Also, t is small fine rainbow garnet gallery. http://www.gaaj-zenhokyo.co.jp/researchroom/2005/2005_12b-01e.html (Gemmological association, Japan) is useful to study Rainbow garnet. Have you seen the quality rainbow garnet before? Highty transparent crystal has weaker irridescent than opaque type because the rainbow color is based upon the exiatence of internal lamellae structure and so, the transparent means insufficient growth of lamellae structure. By this reason, better rainbow garnet is opaque. If you think transparent is better, you will choose wrong specimen. This is a very good picture gallery of Japanese personal collector. Top column is rainbow garnet picture gallery. http://www.geocities.jp/tenkawacrystal7g/ (Japanese language Site)
