NEWPOUL ILSTED VINTAGE ULTRA HIGH GRADE BULLDOG NR Poul Ilsted is one of a handful of top Danish master pipe artists working today. He is know as the master of facets and bulldogs, for his adept handling of difficult lines. This is an early piece, some would say from his best years, still unsmoked and in excellent condition. The grain is perfect, hair thin and 360 degrees around the bowl, with perfect placement of the birdeye at the heal. This is particularly difficult with the keel. The lines are magnificent, sharp and true. The bit is especially wide and comfortable. The only detraction is a small ding on the underside, which can hardly be seen. Otherwise this pipe is pristine. This rarity measures about 5.5 inches long and 1.8 inches tall, with a tobacco chamber about 0.78 inches in diameter. The bowl measures about 1.9 inches across at the widest point.
