This is an old newspaper boy's bag.. It is from the Toledo, Ohio News Bee which was in business from 1930-1938. So if you are in your late 60's or 70's ...you could have been the paperboy carrying this bag full of newpapers. You had to pick up your bundle of papers or sometimes they were dropped off at your house, you folded them and then got on your bike and delivered your papers on your paper route. It is a canvas bag with a strap and a flap for covering the papers so they didn't get wet when you delivered your papers on rainy days. The bag is 24 inches by 12 inches with an 8 inch bottom panel.. The strap is 35 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide and is two ply for extra strength and probably cushion for the shoulder. The flap is 14 inches by 16 inches and was tucked over the papers to keep them dry...I laid it out in the photo so you could see the size. T is a picture of a light house with a house and rocks on the left that is about 5 inches by 7 inches and a space below that that faintly says the name Scripps Howard. The letters NEWS- BEE are approximately 4 inches by 2 inches in size.It does have it's normal wear...remember it's about 75 years old...and the strap has a few holes and a couple small brown stains...( the holes only go through one of the two ply strap ) so the newspaper boy's or girl's bag overall is in very good shape. read more
