Originating from the Niagara Falls New York area, this is a great, as found and in untouched condition example of a 31 Star Son in Service Banner. As the Serviceman was discharged a Ruptered Duck appliqué was applied over the star corresponding to his name. There are two gold star appliqués. Each star is named on the reverse with the man's branch of Service initialed down the top arm of the star. This looks to have been done with a laundry marking pencil, all the names are legible however there is some fading and bleed or smudging to the markings, most evident on the KIA stars as they seem to have been gone over, probably when news was received. The KIA names are "N.C. Gaetano-Pacific and C.M. Deglopper-France". There are nine marked "USN", fourteen marked "USA", five marked "USMC" and two marked "USAAF". The Banner measures 34"X44" and is in excellent condition with wear and fold lines commiserate with it's age, there is one Duck appliqué that has come partially loose and needs to be glued down, an easy fix that I will leave to the next owner. Listed at No Reserve.
