Martini Enfield Rifle Bayonet Offering a super nice example of this scarce late 19th Century British Army bayonet. An 1895 Pattern Socket Bayonet for the .303 cal. Martini Enfield Rifle. These were converted at Enfield from the original 1876 Pattern Martini Henry bayonets. T sockets were bushed, the foresight loop height adjusted, and the socket altered so that when fitted to the rifle, the blade hangs below, rather than to the side of the barrel. About 86,000 were so converted. This bayonet is 25 inches in length and the blade is 21.5 inches long. The blade is in very good to near excellent condition with minor discoloration on the "bright" blade due to normal age and probably being in the scabbard. Tfore, the blade has not been cleaned and is totally original. T are also no nicks or damage to the blade. The barrel part of the bayonet has a rotating locking ring with screw (locking ring functions correctly with nice clean un-messed with screwdriver slot). The blade is marked with the British broad arrow proof mark and the government acceptance mark with a 2'00 re-work date (Feb 1900). The original manufacture date is also visible, 8/85 (Aug 1885).
