Up at auction is a beautiful matching pair of Hand-Painted Japanese Moriage (Dragonware) Porcelain Wall-Pockets. Both wall pockets have a nice high raised relief design of "Winged Dragons" dancing through the clouds. The colors are bright and clean with evident brush markings & hand painted details. Stamped in red on bottoms of both pieces states "HAND PAINTED" (INSIDE A CIRCLE FLOWER/LEAF DESIGN) "MADE IN JAPAN"...I was not able to identify this maker's mark (see marks in pictures). Striking dragonware colors range from dark charcoal to light grays with touches of blue and pink...brick red color outlines the top of rims and fire from mouth of dragons. The Dragon Moriage wall pockets measure 7 1/2" tall and 4" wide. The raised moriage is in excellent unbroken condition, please note the only fault found was one of the dragons has a repair on one eye and the other eye is missing...can see in picture. A great matching pair of fine Dragonware collectible wall pockets! Please email me with any questions or request more pictures if needed, before bidding.
