Nice PHILIPS B5X43A FM STEREO tube radio with 2 x EL84 output tubes and Alnico AD3700AM 800 Ohm speakers. This is a very rare Philips radio that is very sought after by radio collectors for its great sound and fantastic looks. FM STEREO radio from 1963 is in MINT conditon. This BI AMPLI radio contains two amplifiers, one for the left speaker, one for the right speaker. Both amplifiers work with an EL84 powertube and a C-core output transformer. Philips used 800 Ohm speakers because this is an easier load to drive from the amplifier point of view. With 800 Ohm speakers, distortion is less and the tranformers could be made smaller. The transformers used in this radio are C-core transformers who have the best audio performance. The capacitors inside this radio are the Mullard 'musterd' capacitors, famous for their great sound and because they last forever. The speakers are high efficient AD 3700 AM Alnico speakers that really sound great. Some audiophiles use these speakers in their high end speaker system. The tube line up is impressive: ECC85 ECH81 EF89 EBF89 EAA91 ECC83 EL84 EL84 EZ81 EM80 The soundquality of this radio is awesome. You can listen to this radio for hours and hours without getting tired of the sound. The sound is warm with deep basses and a sprankling high, much better than what modern audio systems produce :-) This radio is in completely original condition except the EM80 magic eye and one 470kOhm resistor that is used in the EM80 driving circuit. All tubes and other components are checked and have been found to be in perfect condition! This is unique for a 45 years old radio! I am sure the radio will play for many years without any problem. The radio is very sensitive for both FM and AM reception. Only with a small wire antenna the reception is very good. The magic eye close completely and the stereo indicator lights up on every station.Look at the pictures, this radio is in MINT condition! Try to win this auction to place this radio in your collection. See my other auction for a nice BI AMPLI PHILIPS BX653A tube radio from 1955. This radio is NOT included in this auction. This radio works with all different voltages from 110V up to 240V. The right voltage can easy be selected on the back of the radio. This radio is heavy. Shipment worldwide is 160 USD airmail but it is worth the money. You won't be dissapointed with this great sounding radio. Starting bid is 0.99 USD without reserve!
