Nice STERLING Children's Nursery Rhyme Souvenir Spoon A much earlier one from the 1890's ! This baby/child's spoon is approximately 5 1/4" in length. It was made by the SIMMONS & PAYE CO. North Attleboro , MA in the time frame of 1896-1901 (explained below). It is marked as STERLING and has the earlier identification mark of 3 hearts with an "S" & "P" within them. It later became the PAYE & BAKER, MFG. CO. which is well known for their varied amount of souvenir spoons. You'll commonly see the recognized mark with the letters P & B in hearts. If interested, see info on company's history below description. This spoon portrays the Hey ! Diddle Diddle nursery rhyme theme within the bowl. It is a very detailed and "comical" design showing the cat playing the fiddle ... a cow jumping over the moon ... a sitting dog ... and the plate and spoon running away ! Condition wise, it is very good. It appears to have been used very little, with some minor scratches/heel wear on the back. You will not find any major dents/damage so often found with children's/baby silver pieces. T is a light tarnish present which I did not remove to allow for better pictures of the details.
