Here is a very bright example of a 1944-D silver Jefferson nickel. It is PCGS certified at MS66 . There areno distracting marks and has fantastic eye appeal. It is typically struck with most of it's original mint luster. It is solid for the grade. There is a indication that there was a small crack in the obverse die when the coin was struck. There is what appears to be a scratch approximately one cm. long from just above Jefferson's head diagonally through his hair. IT IS NOT A SCRATCH! This is not a real rarity, but a die crack is not common by any means. An interesting find for a collector of such items! This coin is part of the famous *** OMAHA BANK HOARD*** . ***The OMAHA BANK HOARD*** was a hoard of mint-state bank rolls purchased by a private collector beginning in the 1930’s through to 1980 and stored in a vault in the Omaha (City?) National Bank. It included over 2000 original rolls of gem Lincoln cents, Buffalo and Jefferson nickels, Mercury and Roosevelt Dimes, Washington quarters, Walking Liberty and Franklin halves. The hoard was purchased by the Heritage Auction house in 2004 and as these coins were certified by third party grading services, the “OMAHA BANK HOARD” provenance was added the the description on the holders as there was a known provenance to these items.*** The coin in the photos is the coin you will receive. read more
