This is a nicely carver late 19th century meerschaum pipe of a Nubian man with a goatee. It is well colored;which highlights the detail in his eyes, hair and beard. It has silver band and the orginal case;with an expertly crafted replacement stem. The pipe is 5" long with a 2" bowl height and a 3/4" diameter. It has a superficial crack on the right side (see photo #3 ) but is otherwise blemish free and displays well. This is a fine example of Victorian era meerschaum carver's craftmanship and a classic theme of the period. This would make a nice addition to a collection! * When I place a Reserve on one of my pipes it is to preserve the integrity of the market for authentic antique meerschaums as well as to protect my personal investment, inventory and reputation as a life long collector and dealer of fine meerschaum pipes.
