This is a brand new first edition of "The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star", an enlightening new book released Sept. 18, 2007 by Motley Crue founder and legendary bassist Nikki Sixx . The book, essentially comprised of entries from Sixx's real diary, describes his addiction to heroin in 1987 and is a summary of a rock star's day-to-day life, including candid description of life on the road, partying, women and a battle with drugs. This is one excerpt from the book, dated Oct. 1, 1987: "3:45 p.m. Oh my God-as soon as I got the rock and hit the pipe I thought my heart was gonna jump outta my chest. The whole house started shaking, rolling and stuff was falling off the walls. It threw me on the ground and I realized we were having an earthquake. I didn't know what to do so I ran outside, pipe in hand, and the door locked itself behind me. I was naked and had to run around the back of the house and break the window to get in. Then the alarm went off and the security company called. Days like this I wish I didn't get out of bed. 5 p.m. Flushed the coke in case t is another quake. I don't think my heart can take it. I took a few pills and I'm starting to get tired. W ehave a show in San Diego and I don't want any chance to get more coke. I'm gonna go play my guitar and lay in bed till I fall out." This book was signed on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 during Nikki's appearance at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn . The event was a huge success. Barnes & Noble , which sold the books and CD's for Nikki to sign, distributed their entire quantity of 600 wristbands. No wristband, no autograph. The lines were extremely long and Nikki signed for four hours, accommodating everyone. Every woman got a hug, every guy got a handshake and fans of all ages got a little conversation if they wanted it. Like Tommy Lee, Nikki appreciates his fans and goes out of his way to take care of them. He's a very personable guy, actually somewhat soft spoken. He's covered with tattoos from head to toe and looks like a real bad boy, but he doesn't come off that way at all. At age 49, he looks much younger and appears to be very healthy and in excellent spirits, which is good news for Crue fans who enjoy the new music Nikki & Co. put out. It was a real treat having a rock legend at the Mall of America for a few hours. They've had plenty of celebrity appearances, but this one was definitely one of the most well attended. Tommy Lee had perhaps half as many people show up when he was t a couple of years ago. The book is signed in black sharpie on the inside page. The signature is nice and he also added "07". With the book, you receive: (1) The wristband (pictured) used to secure a place in line. (2) The receipt that came with the book when it was purchased from Barnes & Noble . The receipt is dated 9-22-07 and includes " Barnes & Noble Bookseller, 116 E. Broadway, Suite 238, Bloomington, MN 55425 . " The title of the book is shown, as is the price of $32.50, plus $2.16 sales tax, making a total of $34.66. (3) A photo of Nikki signing a book at the event. Note: The photo, taken when we were perhaps 30 people from the stage, is of a random book being signed, not the particular book you receive. Event staff would not allow photography on the platform. You get an actual photo, not just a printout from the computer. Very nice to keep with your book and it gives you a feeling of really being t (4) A sheet (pictured) explaining the event guidelines. Pretty basic stuff, such as event times, item limits, camera policy, etc. From time to time counterfeit signatures pop up on Ebay and we have gone out of our way to ensure that you KNOW the book and signature you are getting is completely authentic and includes full documentation. All the documentation ( receipt, photos, etc. correlate with the date and location of the event.
