unmarked, but probably the work of Eben Smith of Beverly, Massachusetts (1814-1856). A handsome vessel constructed from shaped sheet metal with seamed joints having a domed lid with original wooden knob; original wooden painted handle. Decorated with rolled horizontal reeding, engraved bands, beading, and engraved shields; 10.5` overall height x 5.62` diameter (at base). See Pewter Collectors Club of America, 1984: 55 for a stylistically identical example.
