Up for bid is an eye catching tall vase with hand painted roses and that rich cobalt blue with gold trim. The main theme has both pink and red hand painted roses both in fully opened versions as well as buds. Shades of green leaves adorn them with several shades of background colors including shades of green and gold colors. Going downward from here is a cobalt blue area with hand painted gold scroll upon it...and the vase has several different appendages that it sits upon. Going upward from the roses is a wide gold band with a circular pattern upon it...raised gold moriage leaves dip downward from this area into the rose area. Above this area is a cobalt blue and gold design area that goes around the necks base, handles and upward to the sharply fluted rim. In this area on both sides is an oval cartouche with different scenes...one has a single rose, the other mainly greenery but both have a gold criss cross pattern upon it with a row of raised gold beads around it. Very nice. This piece measures in at about 9 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches at the widest. On the underside it is unmarked but there is remnants of what appears to be a sticky tag residue as well as a scratched off area which is not uncommon for this vintage of piece. I cannot detect any chips, cracks or repairs present. Does need a good cleaning to display its very best. read more
