Up for bid is a tall Imperial Nippon vase. This lovely design of a purple/lavendar wisteria vine with leaves in the shades of green, yellow and grays all in a hanging type of design. There are even two gold inlayed leaves toward the top of this design. The backside also has a wisteria with complimentary designs associated with the front side. At the round base there is a wide gold band with a row of single gold beads. Seperating the flower design from the top is a wide gold band with three rows of raised gold beads...one larger size than the other two....the back side has a single row. At the neck region is a complex pattern of raised gold moriage and hand painting in a swirl pattern. The two handles and rim also have gold accents. This piece measures in at almost 10 inches tall by 4 1/2 inches at the widest. On the underside in blue is the Hand Painted Imperial Nippon mark with a symbol...see photo. Upon examination I find there is some typical gold loss primarily at the high traffic areas such as the handles and rim. When you examine the piece you can see there is a couple of hairlines that travel downward from the top, and are dark on the inside of the piece for a ways, and then pale up as the move downward. On the outside you can see that they surface, but they are in such a place the pattern is pretty busy so they are hard to distinguish...possibly you might see the one in the flower area. A few manufacturers dimples and a paint scuff or two is it. Even with these faults a beautiful display piece at a very reasonable opening bid.
