Offered is an attractive trilobite from the Lower Middle Ordovician, Volongo Formation, of San Pedro de Cova, Portugal. Nobiliasaphus is one of a dozen or so asaphid species known from this formation in northern Portugal; it is distinguished from other species by having at least 9 pygidial pleural ribs and a multisegmented pygidial axis. Like most asaphids, Nobiliasaphus was mainly a benthic species, but its streamlined appearance suggests that it could swim fast to escape predators. Some degree of tectonic distortion and flattening is typical of this locality, but this example is evenly distorted and retails some good relief too.No reserve!
