Nomura - Mechanized Robby Space Robot Japan with Original Box !! Build in 1957 by Nomura in Japan. ( This is the Second version ) This is for sure THE robot icon that everybody knows: ROBBY THE ROBOT in its purest form. Build as an exact copy of the robot in the film Forbidden Planet. There were many variations made of this legendary robot but this is for sure the "mother" of all robbies :) The actions are of course walking, flashing lights, spinning ears and the famous pumping pistons in his head. His arm swing around while he walks. Not like other robots, robby carries the 2 D-cells in his legs. Nomura`s Mechanized Robot ( thats the official name of this toy ) is in excellent condition and is in 100 % original. Its the second version build by Nomura ( visable by the Knobs of the batterycompartments, the first version had round knobs, the second version didn`t. ) There is no rust, there are no dings, hardly been played with, minor playwear and never been messed with before. The batterycompartments are clean. The dome is original and show minor stresscracks. He works really fine and strong with all the actions, lights and pumping pistons. Only thing to mention perhaps is that the robot does not walk fast. He walks but only with very little steps. This is caused by the internal mechanism. When kids pulled the legs, the rods inside that drives the legs got bend a bit. To repair this, the robot must be opened up to bend the 2 rods on the legs back to their original position. I decided not to open up this robot for this. I will leave this to decide to the new owner. My advice is to leave the robot as is in this unopened condition. The robot still makes small steps and is further in full working order with all the actions... Robby comes with his scarce ORIGINAL box. The original box is in near mint condition. No tears and only light wear around the corners. I doubt if you can ever find a nicer box for this robot. The condition of the robot is excellent to near mint and this is for sure again one of the best examples I have seen in years. I found the robot in Italy where it was part of a collection robots and spacetoys. Mechanized Robby Robot is hard to find in this excellent and FULL working condition. He really works fine with all the actions, he walks as described here above..( small steps ). His pistons pump perfectly, he lights up and both his ears spin perfect.
