Ex-World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro also signed a lucrative contract with the Dubai ’s Al-Ahli. Spain boasts Europe’s two premier teams Barcelona and Real Madrid. Both teams strengthened at the start of the season. The Los Cules signed versatile full back Adriano and hotshot striker David Villa whilst the Meringues appointed the outspoken Jose Mourinho as their manager, while splashing out on Sami Khedira , Ricardo Carvalho and Angel Di Maria . Buoyed by a brilliant World Cup tournament, Atletico Madrid fended off interest in Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero for yet another season. Over in Germany , there were plenty of big-name signings. Wolfsburg successfully retained the services of Edin Dzeko whilst signing Diego from Juventus. ********* read more
