Movie films made in the 1950s On the N&W between Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford, the Shenendoah division and Roanoke Virginia, Not your average N&W steam show of fast mainline running, This one has LOTS of heavy coal and freight drags being pulled and pushed by big brawny 2-8-8-2 "Y3 & Y6a & Y6b" class engines over the triple track Christianburg Mountain Grade!, Scenes of seven different "J" class engines (including the famous #611 pulling the Powhatan Arrow and the Tennessean ), the Blacksburg local "Huckleberry train" with "M" class engines, even one slipping drivers trying to work a siding! an "M" class switching the local at Christiansburg, The Pocahantas, and lots of freight trains!, At Shaffers Crossing , you get to see the Roundhouse and Turntable , The 0-8-0 tank engine "Shop Goat" on the turntable, shoving a "J" into the roundhouse, a "Y" class on the turntable, deep in the bowels of the engine servicing facility, You see the coaling tower, watering, servicing and hostling class Js, As, & Ys , MANY, MANY, MANY different engines , ALL subtitled by CLASS and NUMBER so you will know what you are looking at ,,, Plus THE ONLY KNOWN FILM FOOTAGE of the wreck of the class J # 611 in 1956, when it derailed at speed and went down the side of the mountain, landing upside down almost in the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River, killing the engineer,,,, +++++++A one of a kind film for sure! +++++++ This sale is for a DVD or VHS copy of these private silent films (we've added music and narration about the wreck) Pretty neat stuff!
