~~~FREE SHIPPING IF PURCHASED WITH BUY-IT-NOW~~~~ This is for a pair of exquisite cranes. These are Noritake Bone China Nippon Toki Kaisha Red Crown Cranes. The reason I have classified these as rare is because I have been unable to find another pair of these for sale in the same location. Introduced in 1954, this Noritake Red Crowned Crane Figurine is majestic. Also known as the Japanese Crane and the Manchurian Crane, the Red Crowned Crane is the second rarest crane in the world.* When the male of this species matures, it is snow white with a patch of red on its head. This patch of skin becomes bright red when the crane becomes angry or excited. This Noritake figurine is simultaneously a life-like and minimalist representation of this regal bird . MARK: Noritake, Bone China, Nippon Toki Kaisha, "Bowl in Wreath" in green, red and a brownish gold (DHS #67.0129), Made in Japan.COLORS: white, black, red, yellow, and gray. SIZE: Standing Crane approx. 11" h x 5.5" wide at the base. Sitting Crane approx. 4" h x 9 1/2" l X 4" w. CONDITION: *MINT* (no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs). T are a pair of these shown at: /oriental/birds.html * Most species of cranes are at least threatened, if not critically endangered, within their range. The cranes' beauty and their spectacular mating dances have made them highly symbolic birds in many cultures, including those of Asia and North America, throughout the ages.
