This piece is part of a private 1500 piece Santa Claus collection being downsized for relocation

Scene is reproduction of a painting done in 1957 and found in the private collection of Haynes Thompson

The front of the plate shows a little boy in his PJs trying on an obviously much too large Santa outfit

It bears the word "Christmas" along the top rim, the date "1980" on the center right, the words "Norman Rockwell" on the center left just below the society seal

This piece is authorized by The Rockwell Society of America

The certificate of authenticity, included, states:

"It is by certified that this plate Number 20425D is an authentic registered plate in the only edition of "Scotty Plays Santa" the sole official 1980 limited-edition Christmas plate endorsed and certified by this Society as a genuine "Rockwell Classic," a consumate expression of the genius of Norman Rockwell, the foremost artist of all time in the United States of America"

The certificate then also bears the seal of the "ROCKWELL SOCIETY OF AMERICA"

The back of the plate also bears the inscribed number 20425D and the following:

"Plate number 20425D of the first limited edition of "Scotty Plays Santa." The first edition in any form from the original oil painting by Norman Rockwell and certified by The Rockwell Society of America. The seventh in an annual series, made in a limited edition permanately closed by Edwin M. Knowles on December 23, 1980."

The back of the plate also bears the logo of the Knowles Company, the "The oldest name in American fine china"

The plate is 8 1/4 inches in diameter and is 3/4 inch high

Included with the plate and the certificate of authenticity is a four page booklet showing the plate and telling the story behind it

It is also shipped with its original shipping carton and packing

The piece is in EXCELLENT as-new condition with no chips, cracks, or flakes

Only used for Christmas time display
