This is a Gorgeous Shawl or Throw of Exquisite Normandy lace, and other French antique lace for the trim with little blue ribbons and embroidered roses surrounding the perimeter with a organza trim done with hand worked tatting for the finished inside seam. It measures 70inches long by 49inches wide. The ends are rounded giving it multiple purposes. The color is of Ecru or bone color. The reverse is of a heavy satin of cherubic peach flesh color. This was beautifully hand made in France for the Carin Comfort New York retailer of the early 19th century. The period would be around 1911 to 1925 or the Edwardian time. I have seen many Normandy laces and truthfully have not seen one such as this with the extremely detailed abundance of hand work lace with very little space that has little detail. This is very high end and I think would be beautiful for a bride wanting a showstopper shawl or used on the bottom of a bed or settee giving your room the ambiance of elegant Paris. The condition is extraordinary for its age. T are no stains or musty odors. I found no problems other than two microscopic areas. The one edge included in picture has a tiny whole in the organza and lace edge which could be mended without notice. This is the most lovely extravagant Normandy lace giving example to this art at its finist Craftsmanship. This is truly a piece of Handmade Art, to be cherished for many generations to come.
