NORTHWEST COAST PADDLE by King Laclair

Handcarved with whale and eagle.

July 30 the Paddle to Lummi Canoe Journey gathering takes place through the next day of July 31 and over 60 canoes from a dozen tribes, with 10,000 people attending the feast. The Tribe's Canoe Family returns from the journey around August 4th. This paddle was 'bartered' for back in the 5th or 6th year of this journey back in 1999. It is very special. I have not restored it in any way as it is shows the water marks, the hand marks and other wearing from the magnificant journey. Hand made and carved by King, exquisite detail of Lummi Nation on the long handle and the King's signature on the underside of the paddle.

It measures 44" . Below is a picture from last years Journey in 2007 and you can see the many, various paddles. Thanks for looking!
